The number one misunderstanding that keeps people living in lack and scarcity is this: We believe that it’s our job to go out and create the abundance we desire.
We do not.
The fact is, abundance is not something that needs to be created! Abundance already exists and in infinite supply. It exists as an energy that we have the power to tap into at any moment. And the more often we access this energy, the more accessible it becomes.
Think about all the various forms of prosperity you desire to create: You desire an abundance of money. You’d love to experience an abundance of freedom and choices. You probably desire an abundance of physical vitality and an abundance of love flowing in and out of your life. And at the essence of all of these desires is an energy that you desire to participate with. It’s the energy of abundance that you’re truly seeking.
Abundance in all physical forms begins as an energy.
So the first premise to accept in order to shift out of lack and into abundance is that abundance, at its core, is nothing but energy. Yes, this energy manifests into many types of prosperity that can be felt and observed. But it’s abundance energy itself that we desire to flow in and out of our lives in a rich and unlimited way. Once you understand this, you immediately become more abundant. You understand that everything in the universe is made of energy, and that energy is in a constant state of flowing, gathering, and becoming more.
So if there is no shortage of abundance energy in this universe, why do some experience lack or limitation? The answer is that although wellbeing is being showered upon all, each of us has a unique capacity to receive.
To shift out of lack, you must increase your ability to receive.
A good way to think of your ability to receive is to imagine that it’s pouring down rain outside. And each person, as a result of our beliefs and mindset, has a different sized container to collect the water.
Some have huge buckets to receive the rain; others have a bowl, and some may have only a thimble. And some people are so bad at receiving that they’re like a cement sidewalk, and the rain just bounces off of them. Shifting out of lack is all about becoming more receptive to the abundance that is already flowing toward us.
Here are 3 steps you can take to shift out of lack and become more receptive to the abundance you seek:
Step #1: Revamp your beliefs.
We always create a reality that is consistent with our core beliefs.
And so, if you believe that resources are scarce… Or that creating wealth means sacrificing a personal life… Or that your past will limit the amount of happiness you can experience now… These beliefs will keep out of your experience all the good that is trying to come in.
Think of a rushing river moving toward an area of drought. If there are rocks in the way, the water will still flow but it will be slowed by the rocks. And if there are too many rocks built up, they will form a dam that will keep the water out altogether. Even when the water is flowing freely on the other side of the dam!
In the same way, abundance seeks to come into our lives along our path of least resistance. And our limiting beliefs are like rocks that slow the rush of abundance into our lives.
To shift out of lack and into abundance, begin to reach for beliefs such as these:
- Things are always working out for me.
- There is an abundance of everything I desire.
- I manifest according to my ability to receive.
- Lack is a mindset, and so is abundance. I have the power to choose.
Step #2: Engage Your Power of Focus
In every moment, there are an infinite number of things that you can observe and shine the light of your attention on. Some things are in a state of alignment; of flow; of harmony and joy, and some are in a state of discord. It’s up to us to tune our perception to those things which feel good when we observe them.
Granted, most of us were never taught to view the world through this lens. In fact, we were probably taught the exact opposite – to notice what’s wrong; to point out what needs fixing; to be on the lookout for potential danger. But what we look for we tend to find. If we’re constantly observing what’s missing, this observation will prevent us from shifting out of lack and into abundance.
And so, it is really to our benefit to be more deliberate about where and how we direct our attention. With practice, looking for evidence of the abundance all around you will become your default way of viewing the world.
No matter what our current circumstance, we always have the ability to focus on something that raises our vibration. This is the key to shifting out of the vibration of lack and into the energy of abundance.
Step #3: Appreciate often and out loud the ways in which you are already abundant.
To shift out of lack and increase the flow of abundance in any part of your life, appreciate, appreciate, appreciate!
Make it a regular practice to notice, acknowledge, feel, and speak out loud all of the ways in which you already are abundant. You don’t have to actually count your blessings, but do take a moment to notice and breathe them in.
And as you acknowledge all the ways in which you are already abundant, remind yourself there’s more where all of this came from. Stepping out of lack consciousness releases the inner dam that holds you apart from all that you seek. Once these inner blocks are out of the way, the river of abundance can nourish you in wonderful and unexpected ways.
If these four steps to creating more abundance sound simplistic, it’s because they are! Where our attention goes, energy flows, and abundance is nothing but energy.
